Last night a good friend roped me into performing a hip-pop/w'rship dance to "Shackles" by Mary Mary for our school talent show. Well, I did agree to it, though not with out great inner hesitation and secretly hoping that one of us would be sick, the rapture would take place, or our music would fail somehow and we wouldn't "get" to perform. On several occasions right before we went on stage I suggested the option of running away.... Oh My........I still think about it and feel all quivery inside. For one, we figured out our routine and rehearsed all of 2 hours the night before, two, I am not really a dancer unless I'm alone in my own house where no one can see me, and three, I was feeling very far away from the "composed," "put-together" self that I work so hard to maintain. :-P Yeah, we were going gangsta-ish in our baggy sweatpants, hoodies, messy hair, and sideways baseball caps. As ridiculous as we both looked and felt, we determined to dance as onto the Father, for He is the one who has broken our shackles and made us free to live and move in Him.
We smiled a lot as we danced, and laughed a lot afterwards, especially when people came up to us and told us that we are "good dancers" hahaha....funny. My friend Kim might have been good, but I surely bombed! :)
Last night's talent show showed that my school has some very talented students! They did a fabulous job singing, dancing, kungfu-ing, acting, and cup-stacking. In the end, we all earned certificates of participation.
